- ABOUT THE ARTIST

Leah Pipe is the fourth generation to live in Hazelton, BC, Canada. Located in the heart of Gitxsan territory, along the Upper Skeena watershed, this land boasts a rich history and aboriginal culture as well as breath-taking mountains and rivers. These surroundings and influences offer great creative inspiration. For many years, Leah Pipe has worked as the Exhibit Designer at 'Ksan Historical Village & Museum in Hazelton ~ a world-renown cultural centre and museum dedicated to sharing the story of the Gitxsan people with an international audience and perserving its collection of cultural property and artifacts.

Her work captures the essence of northern British Columbia: its history, culture, First Nations Peoples, its landscapes, mountains, valleys and rivers, and the mystic beauty that draws visitors from around the world.

"Beauty ~ to capture it wherever it resides and wherever it is witnessed ~ to bring it to a page or canvas.  My work is based upon the tension which exists in the smallest of small beautiful details.  It's all in the details." ~ L. Pipe
